Community Investments announced
Ocala, Fla. (May 11, 2009) --- United Way of Marion County announces the allocation of funds from the 2008 Annual Campaign. The money will be used to support programs to strengthen families, nurture children, meet basic skills/survival needs and foster self-sufficiency. For the fiscal year 2009-10, beginning on July 1, 2009, United Way will fund 46 local service programs. More than 60 volunteers gave their time to the Allocation Committee, the group who evaluate agency applications and recommend funding levels to United Way's Board of Directors for final approval. The volunteers carefully reviewed agency requests, made on-site visits to see programs in operation, studied agency audits and budgets, and reviewed program outcomes to see the long-term effects on community needs.
