Youth United Way (formally known as Student Ambassadors) is a program that provides a forum for local youth to develop leadership skills and demonstrate the importance of youth civic involvement as a key component of community change.
The initiative allows for juniors in high school to serve as volunteers and leaders. They will be able to elect their own officers, participate in meetings, fundraisers and the United Way allocation process. They will also have the opportunity to serve on the Campaign Cabinet as well as participate in Day of Caring which will coincide with the Global Youth Service Day. Ambassadors will also serve as a volunteer group for United Way and the local community.
Some activities might include, but are not limited to: learning about Marion County, giving feedback on community issues as it relates to teenagers, volunteering, running fundraising campaigns, website design and connecting with community leaders.
Applications are available in the spring.
