United Way of Marion County offers a wide range of volunteering opportunities. We can match your talents to serve many ways. We also support employee volunteer programs and community education on volunteering and volunteer management.

United Way Volunteer Opportunities

Seasonal Committees:
Campaign--Focus on raising funds to contribute to the Community Care Fund at United Way. The Campaign Cabinet Committee meets from May-November.

Day of Caring--active from December - March. The Day of Caring is a community-wide service project day (to be held on the last Saturday in February). Over 800 volunteers are organized into teams to conquer projects for local organizations. Volunteers on the Day of Caring Committee plan the event, follow-up with teams and agencies, participate in Day of Caring luncheons, etc.

Day of Action (Advocacy) (April-June) Activities vary (examples include facilitating workshops. speaking opportunities, organizing book drives or event assistance.)

Long-Term Committees:
Public Relations & Marketing--Volunteers on this committee all have some sort of background in public relations and/or marketing. They help plan the Campaign Kickoff and give advice for all PR and Marketing ideas or strategies.

Vision Council--Volunteers are broken up into three teams depending on your interest (Education, Income, Health). Volunteers meet monthly on this committee to review funded partner progress, review grant proposals, participate in agency question and answer sessions, etc. They then meet together to decide how the donations will be spent.

Endowment--This committee oversees the money in the Endowment Fund. If donations are made to the Endowment Fund, that donation is invested to gain the best possible return on investment.
