United Way of Marion County is seeking volunteers to be placed in targeted, kindergarten classrooms in 16 elementary schools for the 2017-2018 school year and be paired up with one child to work on literacy skills. The volunteer commitment consists of a 30 minute session during the school day, once or twice a week for 25 weeks throughout the school year. Training materials and background screening will be provided.
“When schools improve, communities improve and sometimes kids just need someone who believes in them,” Scot Quintel, president and CEO of United Way of Marion County said. “United Way recognizes that everyone can contribute to a child’s academic success.”
Volunteer training will be offered in September and October. Please contact the United Way by calling Jan Hathaway at 352-732-9696 ext. 212 or email@example.com.
