United Way of Marion County Receives $10.8 Million Through the Emergency Rental Assistance & Marion County Government to Assist Marion County Residents
OCALA, Fla. (March 15, 2020) – In response to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, United Way of Marion County received $10.8 million in Emergency Rental Assistance funds from Marion County to support individuals/families who have been impacted by COVID-19.
Specifically for residents of Marion County, the COVID Assistance Program (CAP) provides rent and utility assistance to help support those community members who have been financially impacted by COVID-19. To be eligible to receive assistance, one or more individuals within the household must have experienced a reduction of income, incurred significant costs, or experienced other financial hardship due, directly or indirectly, to the COVID-19 outbreak and will be required to submit an application to determine eligibility. Households are eligible to receive assistance for financial obligations incurred after March 2020 and must be at or below 80% of the average median income.
Starting April 1st, those seeking assistance can apply online directly at UWMC.org/CAP or contact United Way of Marion County’s 211 Information and Referral Crisis Line by dialing 2-1-1 or chat online at uwmc.org/211. Applicants needing access to a computer may visit CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion; or can call 211 to schedule a meeting with a CAP Outreach Team member to assist in filling out the application.
To be eligible for assistance residents must: 1) reside within Marion County limits, 2) experience financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 3) be at or below 80% of the Average Median Income, 4) provide a valid form of ID and 5) apply online at UWMC.org/CAP. Qualifying individuals/families are urged to apply.
Funds are available on a first come, first served basis, and are required to be distributed by December 30, 2021.
