United Way of Marion County Receives Coronavirus Relief Funds
Made Available Through the CARES Act and Marion County Government.
OCALA, Fla. (August 13, 2020) – In response to the Coronavirus pandemic, United Way of Marion County received over $1.5 million in CARES Act funds from Marion County to support individuals/families who have been impacted by COVID-19.
Specifically for residents of Marion County, the Coronavirus Relief Funds provide rent, mortgage and utility assistance to help support those community members who have been financially impacted by COVID-19. To be eligible to receive assistance, residents must be directly impacted by a loss or reduction of income as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and will be required to meet with a United Way case manager to determine eligibility. Households are eligible to receive assistance for financial obligations incurred from March 1, 2020 to December 30, 2020.
For those seeking assistance, residents can contact United Way of Marion County’s 211 Information and Referral Crisis Line by dialing 2-1-1 or chat online at uwmc.org/211 starting Wednesday, August 19th. Residents may also access and submit their applications online by visiting UWMC.org/CRF. Applicants will be asked to meet with their case manager at CareerSource of Citrus Levy Marion, by appointment only.
Under terms of the grant from Marion County Government, residents must: 1) reside within Marion County limits, 2) indicate hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic with inability to pay rent, mortgage or utility assistance, 3) have a valid form of I.D., and 4) have the ability to meet in-person with a case manager to verify identification and present documentation (i.e. bill information, bank statements). Qualifying individuals/families are urged to apply.
Fund are available on a first come, first served basis, and are required to be distributed by December 30, 2020.
